a poem by Amaranthine

// feeling a bit inspired today. Enjoy.// little Johnny's mother slapped his hand warning him away from the cookie tray placed hot and steaming fresh on the kitchen counter which he knew he shouldn't touch but the cookies looked so sweet and piping hot those were the days when Johnny learned what he thought was life that you shouldn't cheat or the playground monitor would whistle and drag you out of the game. when you play play fair. that no one likes a liar. if you shatter a window, it'll catch up to you when the grown ups find out And most of all, don't touch a cookie tray hot out of the oven. It looks good but burns worse. Now Johnny wishes for those days, when the rules still applied Now cheaters win no playground monitor to drag them out of the game People lie and they do just fine They shatter lives and never look back and no one finds out. And Johnny saw the cookie tray searing hot on the table He knew that it would burn b...

Hey.

What's up. Let's see...how's life been doing. I'm soo pumped for Spring Break, but I have all these assignments to get in first...ehhh... I need to write an entry for the Maximum Ride Nevermore contest..technically I already have two entries, but they both suck. Not to mention finishing my NaNoWriM Like I"ve already ranted to most of you, GAM is coming up, I'm one of the only experienced people going, all my friends are AWOL, we have tons of newbs, tons of stuff to learn and prepare, and not a lot of time to do it in. Right now life is just bleh. I think I'll shower and go to sleep. Or write. I can't bear posting a post with no substance though...

the hunger games pre-movie post

Mostly a bunch of gifs/pics/vids in tribute(haha, see what i did there? Tribute? ) to the ginourmous Hunger Games fandom. I criticize it all the time, but hey, the series is good XD. And besides, the new Dance Moms episode is taking forever to load. I've been preparing for the movie by watching an appropriate amount of behind the scenes, interview, and released clip vids as well as parodies. And can I just say Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson might be my two new favorite celebrities. I've seen Josh Hutcherson in two movies before, Bridge to Terabithia and RV. I still can't believe it's the same guy. He's so funny XD   d 1. Did you read The Hunger Games before or after you knew about the movie? Before. 2. How did you find out about The Hunger Games? Mostly word of mouth. A bunch of people, my best GS friend, some people we were camping with, and Qui all helped. 3 . Which is your favorite released scene? This one. 4. Which scene ar...

Elements of a Literary Blockbuster

Have you ever wondered what differentiates Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Eragon, Artemis Fowl, The Hunger Games, etc. from other books? What the heck makes them so famous? Besides being well written and all that. I know a ton of well written books that aren't nearly on the same level they are! This is more of a thought/opinion post than anything. I just finished reading two books, Eldest and The Floating Island. Both well written fantasy novels, that while good, would not make it near the top of my "Best Ever" list. I bet you've read Eldest. It was everywhere a couple years ago. I bet you've never even heard of The Floating Island. (This isn't really a fair comparison, as Eldest  is Older Teen and TFI is Children's, but hey, it started the discussion) Suzanne Collins. What did you just think of? Yeah, her beyond-blockbuster series The Hunger Games . She wrote another series a couple while back. It was called Gregor the Overlander . I read Gregor...

(wipes tears from eyes)

Crazy Woman's History Month Lady Gaga parody is making me cry a bit. But seriously, watch this video. It's weird, but I dare you not to tear up. It's gotten ugly They passed the 15th Still women have no right Nor guarantee To liberty Child, health, wealth Or property Hey! We’ll raise our banner Across this land hey! ‘Cause franchise isn’t just The right of a man Universal Yuh, yuh, yuh, it’s universal! Yuh, yuh, yuh, universal! You know we don't want to Take freedoms from you Just want our rights and nothing less We cry for freedom Oh, hear our voice And see we’re equal to all men! Oh oh oh oh... We the whole people Not just male citizens Formed this most perfect Union!

Gone

My highschool dreams are gone My childhood sweets are gone Life is a song that doesn't last for long This is one of my favorite songs because it introduces a simple idea that so many people forget. The idea that most what we worry about, dream about, put so much stock in and hope in, will soon be gone. And what we have now, what we depend on to fulfill us and make us who we are, won't always be around. Everyone wants to be remembered in some way, but everything fades. All kingdoms and governments fall. Once-hot clothes go out of fashion. Technology that was once cutting edge is replaced by some Apple product.  This principle is common in the entertainment business. One minute you're the hot young new thing, and the next minute you're not. Names that were once all the rage "immortal" are fading faster and faster in our memories. Like some critic said, "the worst day of Lady Gaga's life will be the day no one remembers or cares abo...
