Do you love somebody?
What percent of couples at your school fit this description? What percent of so called "love" in the world fits this description?
"Love is patient.
Love is kind.
It does not envy
It does not boast
It is not proud
It is not rude
It is not self-seeking
it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres"
.Love never fails.
People's version of love is screwed. Love isn't an emotion, it's an action. This list is all verbs. Love does.
"Love" at first sight is impossible. That's not love, because "Love at first sight" is all about me.
A lot of people who "fell out of love" or "lost their feelings" were never in love in the first place. Their "love" was all about you meeting my needs. You fufilling my desires and living up to my standards. You making me happy. Love is not selfish.
When people conduct affairs behind each other's back because they "really love the person they're with", that's not love. Because love doesn't delight in evil. Love rejoices with the truth. True love isn't built on lies and deception.
When boys treat girls crudely and disrespectfully, that's not love. Love is not rude.
When spouses are abusive and jealous, that's can't be love, because love is not proud or easily angered.
If you love someone the way God loves you, you are patient, kind, unselfish, humble, and forgiving to them.
Love is supposed to be perfect. But we aren't. So say a prayer to help you love others the way you should.
And when you're confused, try and remember what real love looks like.
"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
Amen Amarathine. Amen.
