Her Universe

Before I start, let me just say this. I appreciate what Ashley Eckstein is doing. It's obvious she really cares about and is enthusiastic about her line, and she's using her position to make our days(and wardrobes, apparently) a little more cheerful. However, I don't think Her Universe is the huge movement she expects it to be. The website   talks about how female SW fans have a hard time finding merchandise designed "just for us" and the trials of having to wear either "very girly stuff" or "men's stuff in small sizes."   This post from Club Jade clearly favors and is enthusiastic of Her Universe. Vivenne's comment,(the 6th) says everything more eloquently than I ever could. "However, it’s NOT our turn. We’re NOT getting what they’ve got. I STILL don’t wear Star Wars franchise stuff because there is no way I can afford Her Universe. $30 for a TEE SHIRT? No. No no no. I’ll keep buying the $9.99 shirts for g...

Tips on getting more followers

I am delaying my usual humorous Tuesday post, because I felt that...well, with all the new bloggers.....life demands, um, well, I just wanted to write about this, ok?  Ahem. Everyone wants more traffic for their blog. The reason I write about this so much is because I can't stay away from the topic. And from the poll, I guess you want to know about this too.  I know you can google this, but I, Amaranthine, made a special post addressing this topic. Just for you.  It's good to know, whether you have a blog or not.  Subsection #1: How to promote yourself shamelessly.   Because this is what it comes to, right? I only wish I were joking. This is the secret to getting followers for your blog. Ask any blogger, and he/she will tell you that, when their blogs were started, they told everybody about it, and nagged them until they were encouraged to check it out. So do it. Slogan: Promote yourself shamelessly. People will get annoyed, and perhaps leav...

Yays

I'm not feeling well. So I'm going to make this quick. Yay: -Fun weekend! It was my brother's bday party! -Qui-Gon is designing my NaNo cover! Blog( http://lightsaberandscript.blogspot.com/ )  <3 you. Thanks. -I just found my online twin. :D Welcome Leia Skywalker Organa   to the SW blogging world. Please drop by her blog and leave a congratulatory note and some blogging tips!  -Only 22 days till Vortex! Sadness: - Red Harvest. Icky, icky. As Paula so eloquently put it: The nice thing about Star Wars is that there's something for everybody. The bad thing about Star Wars is that there's something for everybody. -My attempt at 30k this weekend failed miserably. :( -I can't wait for our new phones to arrive in the mail!   And a big yay: 20 followers! I love you all, and I appreciate ALL your comments. Happy NaNoing! Amaranthine

Incorporating Emotion

If you've ever read my writing, mostly short stories-then you know it's stark. Not dreary, but to the point. Deliberate. Serious. I use humor(I hope you can recognize my humor), but it's deliberate. Like when my post about popularity changed to shoes and Star Wars. Some people writing humor and parodies come easily. They can easily make funny and likable characters.  Not me. Mine are dry, clipped and whiningly-sarcastic who would probably shoot me with a cannon the moment they met me. Or shoot me out of a cannon..... Or at least the first time I write them. Then I have to go back and give them actual personalities.  Gah. My writing model is LOTF. Dry, clipped, sad,  at the same time hilarious, and romance-less.  Lets see if I can pull it off. 20k and the war hasn't even started yet. Amaranthine PS. There have been 3 "Awesome People" added to my sidebar. in ONE DAY!!!!! That's like Christmas, my birthday, Halloween, Easter, Presidents Day, and um, ...

You know you're a blogger when...

-having a two new followers on the same day is equivalent to Christmas. -you are attached to your commenting followers like they are your real life neighbors/lifelong friends. -you check your Blogger before your email. -you think of life as a source of blogging material. (Cool! (insert catastrophe) happened to me! I can't wait to post it on my blog!) I can't think of any more right now. My brain is fried from hours of working on my NaNo novel. Which, by the way, is tentatively titled Or Die Trying . It's going swimmingly. I've been procrastinating by googling celebrities google profiles. There are a lot of posers out there. How else do you know you're a blogger?

Random SW Tuesday

♫Duh-duh duh DUH!♫ Council: He is too dangerous to be kept alive. Darth Caedus must be killed. Tenel Ka: This is a fact. Lowbacca: Rawhrrahwra! Em-Teedee: Master Lowbacca heartily concurs with the assessment of the Jedi Council on this matter. Personally, I think it is so dangerous to go on yet another adventure that my circuits may just overload! Zekk: I'm too tainted by the dark side for this mission. I was once the darkest knight of the Shadow Academy! Raynar: But we young Jedi Knights (even though we're not all that young anymore) are BETTER TOGETHER! Jaina: So, what are we waiting for? (Darth Caedus walks in, running a hand through his tussled hair.) Caedus: Hey, anyone want to hear a joke? Em-Teedee: Oh my--we're doomed! Jaina: *stabs Caedus* Caedus: *dies* (Jedi Master Luke Skywalker walks in, smiling at his not-so-young-anymore Jedi Knights.) Luke: I'm very proud of you almost-middle-aged-now Jedi Knights. You showed ...

Happy Halloween

I hope you all had a great Halloween. I went to a HUGE Halloween fair. I'm not really into candy, but I loved taking pictures! I should have taken more, but most of them turned out bad, and I gave up trying to take pictures after the first 3 hours or so. (it was from 5-9)  But first a picture of my Barriss Costume: I debated about this for a while, and then I just went with broadcasting my paranoia to the whole world. Censor bar! :D If you magnify, it says "hi." From this picture you can deduce- I am roughly the size and shape of a human female. I have a white wall. But seriously, I loved my costume. Though at the fair people kept stepping on it! I drew Barriss's tattoos with Sharpie and eyeliner. I'm curiously obsessed with the ones on my hands. I haven't washed them off yet! These are pics from the fair. I saw at least 5 Darth Vaders, two Jango Fetts(the cheap cloth kind) and 10 clone troopers(the cheap cloth kind with the plastic helmet.) And my b...
