Do you love somebody?

What percent of couples at your school fit this description? What percent of so called "love" in the world fits this description?

 "Love is patient.

 Love is kind.

It does not envy

It does not boast

It is not proud

It is not rude

It is not self-seeking

it is not easily angered,

it keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres"

 .Love never fails.

People's version of love is screwed. Love isn't an emotion, it's an action. This list is all verbs. Love does.

"Love" at first sight is impossible. That's not love, because "Love at first sight" is all about me.

A lot of people who "fell out of love" or "lost their feelings" were never in love in the first place. Their "love" was all about you meeting my needs. You fufilling my desires and living up to my standards. You making me happy. Love is not selfish.

When people conduct affairs behind each other's back because they "really love the person they're with", that's not love. Because love doesn't delight in evil. Love rejoices with the truth. True love isn't built on lies and deception.

When boys treat girls crudely and disrespectfully, that's not love. Love is not rude.

When  spouses are abusive and jealous, that's can't be love, because love is not proud or easily angered.

If you love someone the way God loves you, you are patient, kind, unselfish, humble, and forgiving to them.

Love is supposed to be perfect. But we aren't. So say a prayer to help you love others the way you should.

And when you're confused, try and remember what real love looks like.

"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."

this song makes me want to cry and laugh at the same time

Abby aka The Director did this song as part of her post. I'm reposting it.

Without looking up anything about where this song is from , listen to it. What does it make you think of?

To me, it reminds me of worlds far away a long time ago. It's part of a movie soundtrack, and it's unique because it's very subdued and quiet. It's beautiful and fantastic, with a touch of magic.

I'm back.

and I have a bad stomach cramp. :(

I just felt like I had to post or else you would think I died or something.

We spent the entire ride there and back listening to Artemis Fowl books on audiobook.

I love Potter Puppet Pals.

This post deserves to be drug out into the street and hung.(Drug? Drug?(shakes head)

I will attempt to salvage it with some Artemis Fowl quotes.

"Butler could kill you a hundred different ways without use of his armoury. Though I'm sure one would be quite sufficient."
Eoin Colfer (Artemis Fowl
"Let's save some time here. I grow weary of your clumsy bluffs. In the case of an abduction, the LEP will send a crack Retrieval team to get back what has been lost.. You have done so. Excuse me while I titter. Crack team? Honestly. A Cub-Scout patrol armed with water pistols could have defeated them."
Eoin Colfer (Artemis Fowl

"Peace be inside me, tolerance all around me, forgiveness in my path. Now, Mervall, show me where the filthy human is so that I may feed him his organs."
Eoin Colfer
"I bet," said Mulch, "that you would set the world on fire just to watch it burn."
Opal tapped the suggestion into a small electronic notepad on her pocket computer.

"He threw his head back and sang, "'I am a centaur, yes, a centaur is what I am.' It's not like you to wax, Artemis"

"Foaly is singing," said Holly. "Surely that's illegal?"
Eoin Colfer (The Atlantis Complex (Artemis Fowl, #7)

"Orion sniffed. "Good. Then, worthy centaur, perhaps you could give me a ride to the village on your back. Then I can make a few pennies with my verses while you build us a shack and perform circus tricks for passerby."
This was such a surprising statement that Foaly briefly considered jumping into the hole to get away."
Eoin Colfer (The Atlantis Complex (Artemis Fowl, #7)

"If you were me, then I'd be you, and if I were you, then I'd hide somewhere far away."
Eoin Colfer (Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code (Artemis Fowl, #3)
"Being in command means making tough decisions. Not being in command means shutting up and doing what you're told.
--Artemis Fowl"

"Artemis felt like he was six again and caught hacking the school computers trying to make the test questions harder"
Eoin Colfer (The Time Paradox (Artemis Fowl, #6)
Give me a break okay? My tummy hurts. :(

Sequoia camping!

On Sunday, some friends invited us to go camping in the Sequoias with them. This Thursday. I'm really excited, partly because I love camping and partly because it's a five hour drive up and I have Artemis Fowl audiobooks. :D

So I won't be posting from thursday through sunday.

For realz(homeschooling and the *bleck*social aspect*bleck*)

 by ssilence on Deviantart
This post is for Courtney@Storing Up Treasures "Fo' Realz" posts.

This may sound rather harsh to people who aren't homeschooled.

We homeschool/online schoolers put up with a lot of doubters. Mostly they blab about socialization and social skills and a whole ton of other related stuff that they don't usually talk about(No one comes home from public school saying "Gee whiz, I got so much socialization today!")

And it's true, somewhat. A lot of us don't have best friends or even a best friend. A lot of us don't go out to the movies or to the mall. And sometimes we don't have anyone to talk to about stuff we like or when we feel sad.

Normally, I lament about it. But I was thinking that maybe it's okay.

I'm not saying I don't need friends. Of course I do. But I think that besides lowering peer pressure, the unique(not nonexistent, mind you) socialization(blech I hate that word) aspect of homeschooling shapes homeschoolers to become more confident and independent.

People who grow up surrounded by friends sometimes wonder who they would be without their friends. And when they're separated from their friends they wonder who they are.

Some people would do anything for friends. Being friendless is the worst thing that could ever happen to them. And sometimes they give in to people who take advantage of them or are terrible friends. Because to them, nothing is worse than being alone.

Homeschoolers have friends. We just aren't drowning in them. We see them sometimes. We have different groups of friends for each activity(church friends, school friends, etc.) We don't see them all the time or every day. We may go for weeks without emailing them, calling them, or seeing them at all.

It's true that homeschooling often means being alone at times. But maybe that's not so bad. Before we go out into the world, we need to have a strong sense of who we are. And nothing  helps that more than separating from the influences of friends and enemies and discovering yourself.  And sometimes, I won't have friends. That's just life. I may decide to stand up for your beliefs sometime in the future when it's unpopular. Sometimes standing up for your beliefs may mean sacrificing friends. Learning to stand on your own for a short time isn't a bad thing.

Do you feel called to ministry?

and take a look at my new blog design! Isn't it beautiful? Thank you Qui! <3 I love Qui. And look at my gorgeous new signature!

(I'm putting it at the top of my post so you can see it better.)

When we think about what we want our careers to be, a lot of my friends tell me they feel called to be a missionary or a pastor or somebody who works in the church.

It just feels right to lead worship, to teach kids about the bible, to hand out food to people who don't have any. A lot of people feel something click inside when they go on mission trips and help out in church.

It's because we're wired that way. Every single one of us has a inner desire to serve and to worship and to help others. It's how God made us.

So if you feel an urge to be in ministry, keep in mind that we're all called to "missionaries"! We can pursue regular careers and still be a missionary to others in our field.

I think I might like to be a scientist. Or work at a publishing house.

What I did today(be a better blogger, day 2)
Beware of whining in this post.

Hi. Qui said to talk about what I did today. So here it is.

I woke up feeling depressed because I went to the swim team championship party. Everyone knows that they won't see each other till next summer. When I left, not counting the coaches, I said goodbye to two people. I've been on the swim team since I was six. It sounds minor, but I felt like a loser because I've been on the team for so long and I only have two friends.

Then I had to bike to church. I hate biking to church because I have to get up early and church is five miles away up a tortuous climb in the hot sun(actually, it's a rather nice shady trail along a creek, but hey, do it for three years in a row and see how you like it).

We were starting the new church series called Life in The Bubble. Our church makes our own curriculum and even distributes it to other churches to use. It was pretty epic, about this city that's hidden underwater cause the real world is too dangerous. I like Life in the Bubble because I act in it! Yay!

Then it was back to being depressed because at the High School service I had no one really to hang out with. I mean, I talked to a bunch of people. I know a lot of the other kids but they all have their own friends to hang out with. Maybe once small group starts it'll be better.

Then I got home, ate lunch, and sat around reading random parts of random books until I fell asleep and woke up and wrote this blog post.

(sigh.) I'm convinced my life is pathetic sometime.

There was my Be a Better Blogger post. I hope you're happy.

in other news...

PS. I also saw that I(sigh) lost another follower. Grr. I'm used to it by now, I suppose :(

Be A Better Blogger: Interview with The Amazing, Flying, Fun-Loving Ember Sparkstone!

This is for my bloggie friend Qui's Be A Better Blogger challenge. I interviewed Ember Sparkstone(aka Chibi*Chick aka Jedi~Chick's cousin). This is a very random interview.

How did you get on the internet? Did Jedi~Chick make you? XD
Jedi~Chick  made me make an account on lakehouse as part of april fools and I decided to stay.  My friend introduced me to deviant art and I told JC  about it.

What do you do most of the time?
Most of the time I am drawing or reading and EXPLODING STUFF.Jk (I wish)

I read your fanfiction, The Amazing Adventures of Ember Sparkstone. What makes you so random? XD
Most of Ember Sparkstones Adventures are part of the dreams/Nightmares I have.
Do you enjoy making smiley faces like so: XD?
Of course XD but Id rather make a giant pirate skull.;)

´´´´´´´´´´´´´´´´´´ ¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶´´´´´´´´´´´´´´´´´´´`

Okay! Err...interesting skull. Ahem.  If you had a blog, what would it be about? What would it be called?
If I had a blog I probably would act as Ember S. and share my daily experiences;). I'm not quite sure what I would call it maybe Ember Sparkstone the best pirate/ninja/superhero/villian/jedi/ Spidergirl EVA. or ESTBPNSVJSE!!!!!!
You seem to have a lot of books. Whenever I ask Jedi~Chick if she has read something, she says she has to borrow it from you. What's your favorite book/series?
I would mention all of them but We would probablybe aged by 10 years so ill just tell you I LOVE fantasy/scary  books.

SAME! XD(except for the scary books part.)How did you get into tap dancing? What do you like about it?
Lets see I was about two when I started with Jedi~Chick and haven't really stopped.  I like how it burns a lot of energy and how certain steps seem very complicated, I loe a challenge.  I have always been a "performer" and enjoy blowing peoples minds.

Do you like school?
It's very interesting and necessary.

What is your honest opinion of your cousin(Jedi~Chick)?
She's a creative best friend and the best anyone can have, though she should spend the same time outside as she does on the computer.

. There just ain't enough time in a lifetime for that. XD What is your favorite direction?(north, south, left, right, diagonal, backwards, up, down) etc.
Upside down. I love looking upside down cause if shows a different perspective and i imagine how life would be with an upside down house.

How many gas stations do you think there are in the United States?
Too many.

 What's your favorite quote?
You asked me for one so Ill give you three.
Spiderman: realizes be may have gotten his powers back)I'm back! Im back!
Spiderman: (falls down on a car, moans) My back. My back...

Mary Jane Watson: Do you love me?
Peter parker(Spiderman): [pauses]...No.

and everyones favorite
Spiderman: With great power comes great responsibility.
If a car is going down the highway at lightspeed, and it turns its lights on, does anything happen?
Ya. It sees thats its about to fall into a 10000000000 ft deep ditch.
Anything else you want to say?
Dogs don't like pop rocks. It makes them...spazzy.

Well said, Ember. Well said. Thanks for agreeing to do this interview!

Back to School

Honestly, is anything more exciting than the start of the school year? September is so much more the beginning of "a new year" than boring ol January will ever be. School is what sees children through to become adults, after all.

Have I mentioned that I'm really excited? I would say I love school, except that I won't love school anymore in say, February(My least favorite month! Woo!)

I have:
Brand new notebooks that smell nice and DON'T have ripped pages and doodles!

Brand new textbooks and reading novels!(The Great Gatsby and The Glass Menagerie, to name a few)
Gel Pens!
All different colored Sharpies!

I am taking:
Honors Modern World Studies
Honors American Literature
Algebra II

Finding your Path 2(Bleck!)
Image Design and Editing
C++ Programming
Spanish II

Extracurricular activities are:
Reading(What I'm going to be reading, not sure)
Dance(currently 3 times a week)
Small group
Possibly a sport
Possibly a course at the local community college.
Girl Scout

This all starts in a week!

What are YOU excited for this school year?

I finished Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows!
It was fantastic and beautifully written. Rowling's writing is very natural and she is a master at writing intricate plots. The ending was a tad convoluted, but whatever. I recommend the books to everyone! They're worth every single bit of hype. If you love thrilling adventure books that make you laugh and cry, read them!

I can't say much(not even my favorite character) without ruining it, but I hope you read it!

How To Keep On Blogging When You’re Really Busy

This is a guest post I did for Bethany.

You know how it is. Your schedule’s crammed to the brim, and you’re running around getting ready for the start of school, unearthing your desk from a mound of junk, shopping for clothes, and sorting all your new books out.

Then you’ve got new novels to read, dance class, swimming, and hanging out with friends, and before you know it, you’ve checked Blogger and it’s been a week since you’ve been on. You haven’t commented in AGES, and you look at your Dashboard and nearly faint from the weight of the 77 blogs you’re following. You feel MAJORLY guilty you haven’t posted, and open a “new post” button...only to find you have nothing to write about.

How can that be? You’ve been experiencing anything but boredom in the past couple days. Maybe just nothing inspirational has popped into your brain. Let’s think of something...oops! Time’s up and you’ve got to dash to your next activity. All the while Blogger is hanging over you like a weight, just like another one of the 300000 pressures crowding your life, when all you really want to do is sit down and read Star Wars.

So what to do? Delete your blog? Take yet another blogger break? Resort to guest posts? Nothing so drastic.

The key to stress/Blogger management is simplification! This method works(in theory. I know I’m not the best example of this, but whatever.)

1. Get all your high stress work done the earliest you can. Whatever’s taking the biggest toll on your conscience right now, do that first.  An email you’ve been putting off, your chinese homework, whatever. Try as soon as you can to clear up a spot for Blogger.

2.  Do simple posts. I have a ton of elaborate posts I’ve been putting on hold for months. Something thoughtful and short will do for now. A picture, a quote, a paragraph about your life, an insecurity, anything you can jot down and send off. Your followers are busy too, remember.

3. Comment. I know this is hard, but just try one comment on one blog a day. Just one. Comment on the most well-written post you read, the most thought-provoking post, Amaranthine’s posts, comments are like solid gold and earn you a ton of cred with your followers.

4. Manage the blogs you follow. Did you know there’s a way you can get out of reading posts without hurting people’s feelings? You can hide blogs on your dashboard(go to “Manage Blogs”) so you don’t have to unfollow but aren’t drowning in posts either.

5. Don’t feel guilty. Blogs weren’t made to be posted on every day. No one expects you to. You might lose followers, but you probably have so many already you  wouldn’t be able to tell who it was anyway.

6. Post as soon as you can. No apologies, no nothing. Just move on.

  • Rely on guest posts. I don’t mind writing them when I can, but you don’t want to make your blog one big warren of guest posts. I’m not a fan of having people guest post on my blog. I don’t think I’ve ever had one done before.
  • Get discouraged or quit. See #6
  • Wait till things “calm down” to post. I make this mistake tons of times. It’s never going to “calm down”
  • Trade your charm, your humor, or your online personality for desperation. No one follows you to hear you complain about what a bad blogger you are.

Hope this helps,

Amaranthine Scylla Degada blogs and is busy at Amaranthine Forever. ( She has blogged for a year and a half and is also a forum moderator. She lives with her lizard, two and and a half goldfish, and pet rock underneath the counter of a Starbucks in Antarctica. No, not really but when she sees that sort of stuff in author biographies it always makes her laugh.
