Day 16: An art piece.

:D I reread three Percy Jackson books today. And listened to the audiobooks.

Percy Jackson boys. Nico refused to be seen in orange, so they had to dye his coat brown. Kreamasuzi has a strange obsession with Ethan(far left). I don't know why. Boo, Ethan!

Cute! Cute cute cute.

PJatO(hefty acronym) has really changed my view of Greek Mythology. I used to be really into it when I was younger(I read the whole Odyssey) but PJatO reawakened it. There are Greek influences EVERYWHERE. My recent spotting was a Janus reference in a fashion junk magazine I was reading.

PJatO also has a special meaning to me. I was imagining what it would like to be a half blood, and which god I would want to be my father/mother. I would really like to be a daughter of Athena, but the PJatO Apollo is so much like me it's scary. I make up random poems!

But then it hit me. I didn't need to imagine what it would be like to be a child of a god because I already am! As Dionysus would say, "Well, duh!"  And our God is so much awesomer than all those Greek ones. Well, he's a lot more loving. He's not bound by stupid ancient laws. He's actually perfect. He will never love me any more or any less than he does now, because His love isn't based on what I do.

He will give us powers beyond imagination, if we will just have faith. In Battle of the Labyrinth, Hephaestus said about Daedalus: "Once a person is broken, you can't fix him."

God can do that. God can fix people and take what was shattered and make it whole again. He's the God of EVERYTHING.

And He's my father. <3

  1. Amaranthine, that was an awesome post. ;)

I LOVE the pictures!!! :D I just went on Devintart last night and pulled a TON of PJatO pics. *great acronym btw!!!* I was sorta thinking about that too.....which god I'd want to be my parent, and I'd probably say Athena....but then again, I'm only on the 3rd book. ;)
But then I had the same thought as you. I've already got a god for a dad, the GOD. Our God. Just like the song says. ;)
    Great post. :)

P.S. I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! They play it at my church all the time. I sing it loud....because I can, and our church's band is SO loud, you can hardly hear your own voice, let alone other people. :P Besides, God doesn't mind if I can't sing that well. ;) Make a joyful noise...... :)

  3. Jedi~Chick - Sounds like our church; we've sung this song pretty much every week for the past month or two, and we need to sing really loud to be heard as well. I the way our church sings it better than Chris Tomlin, as we have more guitar in it, and our lead singer has an amazing voice -- I love the way she sings this song.

  4. Ooooh.... this post was a serious blessing for me on multiple levels, Amaranthine.... BIG thank you! *hugs muchly*

I <3 PJatO too... very very much... I actually didn't finish the series until this last Friday, but yeah... fell in love with it.....

And HAhahaha, I have a Janus ref. too, but it was in a movie I watched in theaters the other day. Yeah, The Eagle. Anyway, in the beginning Esca is pitted against a gladiator who is wearing a Janus helmet that has a face on both sides, so yeah.... Janus pops up everywhere (OO)

Love you Amaranthine. Thanks for this post. :)

  5. The on;y think I don't like about the Olympians is that they were a little TOO madernized, in my opinion. I jus didn't like the whole 'American Greek' thing. Yeah, they're a long way from perfect, but they're still gods.

(Not nearly as good as our, though, you're completely right. :) )

  6. Maybe I should read them....I know tons of people in real life who are obsessed.......

    I LOVE that song!

  7. Percy!!! I love those books. XD I pretend to be a godling of the sea. I threatened Winter saying that if she didn't do something for me, I'd burst the water pipes in the house. ;P

I'm a child of a REAL God!! So true! =)

  8. I love those pictures! They're so cute! Great post! God is so much better than all the Greek gods, they argue and don't even want their kids sometimes. God will always love every single one of his children. That is an awesome song! We sing it at church a lot, everyone gets so full of energy when the band plays it.

three amazing--and relatively little known--psalms

So I'm reading Psalms in the Bible right now. Well, Psalms is one of the three places I read from. I'm reading the Bible all the way through and read two chapters from three places--the Old Testament, the middle of the Old Testament, and the New Testament--every day. I'm in Deuteronomy and Romans in the other sections, but in the middle I'm still right where I started from-Psalms. Cause Psalms is really really long. I was getting kind of tired of Psalms(which isn't really the right attitude to be reading the Bible in). But I realized there are some really breathtaking passages in Psalms, and I'm glad I read them. These are my three favorites: *Buck Forester on Flikr Psalm 65 This one is about God's spectacular creation. What mighty praise, O God,      belongs to you in Zion. We will fulfill our vows to you, 2       for you answer our prayers.      All of us must come to you. 3  Though we are overwhel...

Howl's Moving Castle book analysis

“I feel ill. I'm going to bed, where I may die.” ― Howl, upon having a cold. I've decided to call them "book analysis" because they're not really reviews that tell you how much I liked the book, rather,  me taking the book apart and looking at different aspects of it for my own entertainment. Read on. Also, read Howl's Moving Castle. This is the original cover of Howl's Moving Castle and I have got to say it is the UGLIEST thing I have ever seen. I like the new one much better. Ahem. First of all, I should point out that Howl's Moving Castle is a children's book. However, I like to hold all books I read to the same standard, after all, they're written by adults. I had biased expectations of Howl's Moving Castle from the start, because I kept hearing from several sources how amazing, how fantastic, how hilarious and how romantic the book was, and hearing the perfectly gorgeous soundtrack by Joe Hizazi(somethin...

Ciel Phantomhive vs. Artemis Fowl

Don't laugh. XD The similarities between the two characters are so distinct and obvious that comparison is inevitable for anyone who's read/watched both series. I seriously thought when I first noticed Black Butler(more popularly referred to as Kuroshitsuji) that it was literally an anime adaption of Artemis Fowl.  Other people have read Artemis Fowl and thought "CIEL HAS A CLONE??!?" So I thought I'd outline some of the differences and analyze who would win. XD Similarities: Appearance:  This is the first similarity, and one of the most major, because if they didn't look so darn alike I don't think the comparison would have been as striking. The above picture of Artemis is a fanart, because there aren't really any good pictures of Artemis, and the manga style makes it more obvious. They are both from the British Isles and have black hair and blue eyes. Both of them lose/change/switch an eye resulting in two different colors. ...
